Back in November my sister came to town for a week long visit. I took the entire week off from work and it was such a blast spending time with her. We ran around like crazy and worked on all kinds of projects. One the the things she showed me, was how to use concrete to make these candle holders. We got the concrete from Home Depot. This stuff is so cheap and I have tons left over for other ideas.
We used a big bucket to mix the concrete with water. We put down a plastic table cloth Kelli picked up at the dollar stop to protect the floors and started mixing away.

Next, we used a few different types of plastic containers. Little plastic cups and some yogurt containers. You can use just about anything you want to try to get different shapes. You just need to spray the container with some Pam cooking spray to make it easier to remove when the concrete is dry. Then take a candle and place in the middle of the concrete.
Let the concrete set for at least day or two.
They make the cuties little candleholders and you can jazz them up a bit if you want. I taped mine off and painted the them to look like they were dipped in black paint. I think it would look really cool to dip them in a metallic gold or silver. Again, I love the mix of something raw or rustic mixed with a little bling. I have a Valentines concrete project I'm going to be doing real soon and I will be sure to post about it her in the near future. Happy Crafting Friends!!!
